Last April 26, etc attended the launch of Marquina Shoemaker's first ever shoeroom. It was a quiet, intimate affair, but clearly a huge leap forward for its founders.
Now, doesn't take a scientist to figure out what the brand name pays homage to: "Marquina" is the original Spanish name for Marikina, a city known throughout as the country's shoemaking capital. It's a city known for many centuries for its progressive shoe industry and is, in fact, home to the largest pair in record. Through that premise, college friends Kayne Litonjua, Juancho del Rosario, and Patrick Khan created a brand that hopes to one day "share the stage with one of the biggest names in retail".
Established in late 2016, Marquina Shoemaker began as a mere passion project. Since then, they've ammassed a strong following with their fusion of classic silhouettes and modern trends. Even moreso when they launched their female line late last year. The result of which is an expanding, collection of comfortable stylish handmade footwear, made with 100% local material and available in an irresistible array of colors.
Among their current bestsellers are the Classic Penny Loafters, the Chukka Boots, and Longwing Brogues for men and the Luxe Slip-On Loafers and Soft Step Collapsible Loafers for women - all of which are available for order.
